My Favourite Items from my Favourite Brands
I wanted to make a gift guide and round up some of my favourite things this year! Categories include fashion with subcategories by brand, and then makeup, office, home, etc. If you want a kid’s gift guide stay tuned!
Some items aren’t sold anymore so I’m listing the ones that are available first.
Reina Top (pictured above)| This blouse is actually corduroy! It’s not the thick cord you grew up with but a thin wale and light fabric which allows for drape and movement. What I love so much about this is the ruffle yoke which is very flattering. The sleeves are also the perfect length and amount of billowy-ness. Shop for more corduroy at Dôen or below at Net-a-Porter.
Rose Top | The rose is one of Dôen’s classic shirts that they freshen up with new fabrics every season. The one I own is actually from their collaboration with Net-a-Porter. Traditionally this top has been made of a viscose and cotton blend but I have it in poplin cotton and I adore it. The Rose is also available second hand here.
Mesa Sweater | If you are a dress lover like me this is the perfect sweater for you. Because Dôen made it, they designed it to pair well with their dresses. At first I wasn’t sure about the lack of a collar on a sweater but this actually highlights pretty dress necklines Dôen is known for.
Ballet Flats | I’m a sucker for everything velvet and I hate most practical things so a velvet ballet flat is the perfect shoe for me. Ballet flats are addicting. They’re easy to style, easy to slip on, and comfortable. I’ve owned many ballet flats in an effort to love the style but they’re usually the last thing I want to wear because I buy them for practicality not because I love them. These ballet flats I LOVE. Dôen shapes the toe slightly square so you have a true ballet feel and they make them out of a pretty velvet and the best colours. I’m in collector mode with these – I need them all! They’re currently sold out but restock every season! Check out the similar and pretty Mary Jane.
Henri Top | This is one of my all-time favourite styles. It’s so easy but so pretty. Dôen is the queen of the puffed sleeve and you can’t find a more perfect one. The ruffle down the front is flattering and the fabric is light so you can wear this tucked in or out. The Henri is currently sold out but reappears every or every other season. Check out it’s long-sleeved sister: the River Top.
Favourites to keep an eye out for or in Upcoming Seasons
Jasmine dress | This was one of my most worn dresses in the spring and summer. I had my baby in June and this was a dream to wear before and after pregnancy. The floral pattern makes this dress extra pretty as does the oversized ties that you can tie into large bows at the shoulder. The shirring expanded and contracted with my pre and post partum body making it so comfortable. It’s available second hand in a pretty tan here.
Luca Top | When you dissect the Luca there is a lot going on. Ruffles are everywhere, pin-tucks and pleats, the neckline un-buttons and there’s a tie? It sounds confusing but the result is amazing. The Luca is definitely one of my favourite tops ever. The Luca is available in pink here and white here.
Hickory Top | I first got the dress version of this style (The Wing Dress) which I loved but wasn’t practical for my lifestyle because of the length. I sold the dress to get the top and it was the best decision. I wear this top at least once a week. I love how it has a lot of classic elements: it’s white poplin, button down, large collar, but the details make it the coolest thing I own. I love the scallop edge with embroidery on the sleeve and oversized collar and the pleats at the bust and waist that make it very flattering.
Lovisa Nightgown | This was another favourite during and after my pregnancy. This nightgown is made of the lightest cotton. It feels like air and made being up in the middle of the summer nights very bearable. I’m officially hooked on Dôen nightgowns and have the long sleeved Solaris under the tree. If you’re going to get any gift off of this list I would highly recommend a nightgown! The Lovisa is available second hand (with tags) here.
Dôen Atalia Top | I talk more about my other favourite white blouse, the Sézane Ninon, below but I haven’t been tempted to buy any other lace white blouse (for 3 years) until I found the Atalia. I love this cotton and lace blouse so much I got it in two colours (a running theme for me I know). But it is everything you want in a blouse! It has a vintage influence, gorgeous detail, breathable fabric and has the ability to dress up any outfit but pairs perfectly with jeans.

PalomaDress | The Paloma dress was my favourite to wear this past summer. The easy style made it great to wear while I was pregnant and the lovely cotton fabric (they only use deadstock material) felt amazing on my skin. It’s a style that Christy Dawn releases at least once a month so keep your eye out for a print and fabric that you love.
Dawn Boot | This is another item that you will love if you wear a lot of dresses. Because I bought boots from a dress company the boots pair absolutely perfect with every dress I own. These boots are vintage inspired and are made of deadstock leather which is buttery soft. I’ve searched and searched for vintage versions of these but there’s been nothing as elegant which I can credit to the low toe box. These boots come in a few colours but sell out quickly so get your hands on them when you can!
Dawn Dress in Daisy| This namesake dress is one of the brand’s most popular designs. I’ve had my eye on this style for over a year waiting for the perfect fabric and I finally found it! Daisies are my favourite flower so I couldn’t resist this sweet pattern.
Dahlia Dress| This was the very first Dahlia dress CD designed and in an organic cotton printed with organic inks- also firsts. Definitely one of the prettiest dresses I own the Dahlia has a similar bodice to the dawn but with open and poufy sleeves with elastic openings. This reminds me of a modern princess dress and will definitely be one of the first dresses I wear again in the spring.
Clara Coat | This is another, “Made for dresses” piece that I just love. The light linen fabric, and fact that it is deadstock material make this such a thoughtful piece. The shape is flattering and my favourite part is the slit in the back that allows the dresses to peek through.
PerfumeL’eau Sézane| If you’ve ever ordered something from Sézane you’ll notice a lovely fresh scent when you open your package. This is the brand’s signature perfume. It’s a combo of citrus and floral scents with after notes of light wood and musk. If you want something fresh that isn’t too sweet I would highly recommend this perfume. It is light and beautiful. Unfortunately they don’t ship it out of France but be sure to check it out if you ever visit their locations.
ClaudeBag | I have two of these bags I love it so much. The shape and style of the bag is classic and stylish and it carries a surprising amount. See my full review including what you can fit inside below.
Ecru Jack Sneakers | If there is any trend I resisted the most it’s white sneakers. You’re probably confused because it was so long ago that these came out as a trend that they’ve turned into a classic now. I’m 5’3″ so I always felt anything that was flat and bulky would shorten me but these are the exception. The thin midsole make this a low-profile shoe and the lower scoop of the opening allows the ankle to show and is very flattering for shorties like me.
HopeBag | This bag is probably one of my favourites that I own. I’m not a big fan of a bucket bag but the jewelry-like strap and studs make this so beautiful and perfect for the evening. This bag fits everything I need making it perfect for everyday too. If anyone from Sézane is reading this: PLEASE bring this bag back! The Hope is no longer sold but they have some beautiful bags with a similar strap below.
Ninon | This is one of my favourite blouses and happened to be the first one I bought from Sézane. The quality of construction, delicate lace, and romantic style make this the perfect blouse. This blouse pops up the in Sézane Archives every once in a while (I got it in red last year) but Sézane makes beautiful white blouses often including the beautiful ones below.
Isaac Blouse | Another pretty blouse! I have the Isaac in two colours and it’s romance in a blouse. Sézane does an amazing job of adding metallic thread into a lot of their blouses and dresses and this one is definitely a favourite. This is another style to keep an eye out for in the Archives but in the meantime Sézane has a similar style below.
